How did we decide on naming our son, Hudson? First off all I had no idea that Hudson was a car until a week after he was born?!?! Would that have changed my mind, nope!
So we had it narrowed down to 2 names from about the time we found it that we were having a boy to delivery. When we fist told my sister and mom that we were expecting a boy, they asked about names. I had mentioned that we had one that we really liked but I kind of would like to have an "H" name. Why a name that starts with an H? Well we both have Grandpa's that have fist names that start with an "H." My grandpa's name was Henry and Jeremy's Grandpa is Harry. So my sister started mentioning different "H" names but it was hard because we knew we wanted Jeremy as the middle name. I think the last one she had said was Hudson and just stuck with me so I told Jeremy. We really liked our original name but also liked the new idea.
Fast forward to "D" day! After we realized we were not leaving the hospital I asked our delivery nurses (yes there were multiple, that is what happens when you are in labor forever!) if they had heard either name lately. They had not heard Hudson but had heard our original name. We still hadn't decided when he came out but I really liked Hudson and Jeremy knew this. So when the nurses asked us his name Jeremy quickly said Hudson! He had told me that he was thinking if he had dark hair it would be Hudson but if it was light then it would have been the other.
Some of the "H" names I like but would have been duplicates for our family (I have a HUGE family!): Henry and Harrison

The arrival...
Hudson Jeremy
7/29/13 @ 8:40 PM
Wt: 5lbs 8oz Length: 18 1/4 inches
I figured I better document the details before I forget.....
Sunday, 7/28 @ 9:30PMish: Just got a bowl of cereal and had a seat on the couch. I felt a little(I mean small) gush of fluid really wasn't sure what it was. Jeremy knew something was up by the look on my face and insisted that we go to L&D to get things checked out. I remember telling him its nothing and they are just going to send us away but I gave in. We gathered a few things just in case they kept us. We didn't even grab the carseat which still had the tags on it!
Sunday, 7/28 @ 10:30PMish: Show up to L&D fill out some paperwork and the nurse starts her assessment. I remember telling her it was probably just the normal increase of discharge in the 3rd trimester. She did a couple of different swabs and sent them off to the lab. The monitors did show I was having contractions but I had them off and on for months. I was on bed rest at the time but my doctor had just told me on Friday that I could be done with it once I hit 36 weeks (insert happy dance from me).
Sunday, 7/28@ 11:00sih: The nurse came back to let me know that I would not be leaving anytime soon because my swab came back positive for amniotic fluid. I did not believe her! I was hooked up to an IV and given antibiotics right away well I let the nurse try once and then made her call the IV team.
Monday, 7/298@ 12:00ish: One of the NICU nurses came to talk with us since they would be in the room for the delivery. Since I was exactly 35 weeks it did not mean an automatic NICU stay but it was most likely. If he came on Sunday, 34 weeks 6 days, it would have been an automatic NICU stay. Monday, 7/29@ 8:00AMish: Meet my nurse for the day, well until 3:00sh, she let me order some breakfast! She became my new favorite, lol!
Monday, 7/29@ 9:30AMish: Met the OB that was on for the day because you know mine is off on Mondays! Thankfully she was super nice and I felt comfortable with her. She did her assessment and decided it was time to start the Pit (boo!). I was disappointed but I knew I was not progressing and he needed to come out since my water had broke (high risk for infection).
Monday, 7/29 @ 11:00ish: Really uncomfortable with a lot of back pain. Talked with the nurse about options to help me relax, we decided on trying a medication through the IV. It helped right away and I could feel him turn. I did not like the way the medication made me feel but I was able to relax. I was only 3 cm dilated at this time.
Monday, 7/29 @ 1:30ish: I was really uncomfortable again. The nurse checked me and decided I was 5-6 cm but that there was a bubble of fluid that was most likely stopping the progression. They believe his head was stopping the original leak. She wanted to try to break it at the time but I was not having it, lol! She said that she would give me an hour to see if it would break on its own.
Monday, 7/29 3:00PMish: Started vomiting, Jeremy went to find the nurse. She was busy with another delivery but another nurse checked me. No progression :( I decided it was time for the epidural. I was trying so hard not too!
Monday, 7/29 @ 3:45ish: I meet the new nurse, who I liked right away. She called the Anesthesiologist again, who came right away to perform the epidural. It really wasn't as bad as I thought and I could still move my legs. I told them that I was worried I would loose control so I think that set it low just to take the edge off.
Now this when I loose track of timing. I know the nurse broke my water shortly after I received the epidural. The baby started to show signs of distress so they put me on my left side, stopped the pit and threw some oxygen on me. We are not sure what happened but he stablized. I was able to take a short nap but woke up vomiting again and continued off and on until I finally delivered the little guy. Jeremy believes that I pushed for an hour and half. The doctor said that he had his head sideways and once she was able to fix it, he came out in no time! She quickly cut the cord and passed him off to NICU team. They had to work on him for a little while to get him breathing better. They did let me hold for a quick minute before taking him to the NICU, I think I was still in shock!
I remember that I kept my eyes covered with a wash cloth during the pushing phase because there were so many people in the room! I stated afterwards that I felt like a freak show!!! It was not the low-key delivery I was hoping for, oh well! I also remember saying "Oh that feels so much better, I didn't think he was ever going to come out! We were able to go over the NICU after my recover period was over and they were done running all their test and doing their assessment on him. He was so sweet and it was hard to leave him over there....

It's been awhile!
I have had what some would consider a rough pregnancy so far. I still get sick but it is MUCH better maybe once or twice a week. We had a trip to labor and delivery a couple of weekends ago for consistent contractions but thankfully they seem to be under control now (just Braxton Hick's lately). I think the 3rd trimester is going to be my best, fingers-crossed! As of today I am 29 weeks and 1 day. Update with Iphone pictures.
We decided to tell Jeremy's family the gender with a box of balloons:
I just got back from a girl's weekend to St. Pete, Fl. So thankful I was able to go, it was touch and go for awhile!
My poor feet/ankles did not like flying or the Florida heat!
Our last evening at the beach, so beautiful.
28 weeks and 6 days. I feel like I am getting big but Jeremy thinks I am nuts.
Sailing! We saw a family of dolphins, including a baby but we were not successful at capturing it on camera! I also was able to see my first manatee and it was in it's natural habitat!
Loved being able to spend time with these 2!

What I have learned so far....
1. A floor nurse and pregnancy may not be the best combination.
2. Milk has become my enemy.
3. People love to say "You will never get your body back." Thank you Captain Obvious. Side note: one of my close friends from high school did tell me that since I have been so sick like she was, I might get lucky and be at my pre-pregnancy weight when I leave the hospital. I love that friend.
4. A pregnant woman can survive on saltines, toast, applesauce and gatorade.
5. I am at the point with this pregnancy that I have less than a 5% chance of having a miscarriage.
6. I can tell which co-workers have been pregnant, they are so helpful and do not let me do the heavy lifting or yell at me when I have already done it. I love those co-workers, they also make sure I get time to eat (even if it is just toast and PB)!
7. When you tell someone you are pregnant their eyes automatically go to the stomach, people I am only 13 weeks and have lost 12 lbs there is no bump yet! (I am now 14 weeks, I sent this to our family last week via email)
8. I have the best husband in the world.
9. I have great mom and mother-in-law.
10. Locals: Bluffton Regional has the slowest registration process just to get labs done, it is almost worth it to drive up to Lutheran. Trust me I know I have already had blood drawn three times. Also the Lutheran Lab Techs take you seriously and use the butterfly needle when you tell them you are a hard stick.
11. Due date is 9/2/2013. Yes that is Labor Day, ironic I know.
*We have not decided if we are going to find out the gender yet. We do have a girl name picked out and have boy names that we like*

Robbed
Text I received from my sister yesterday morning, "Before u hear it though the paper, our house was robbed yesterday." Seriously who does that right before Christmas. He/She/They took all of the Christmas presents for my nephew and niece, plus anything else that looked valuable. Just breaks my heart :(

Old San Juan
Jeremy and one of my best friends (who now lives in Florida) did a majority of the planning for our trip. Which was weird for me because I am the planner out of the 3 of us but it needed to be done when I was crazy busy with school! My request was to be close to a beach. So Sarah picked Puerto Rico and we said "Sounds great!" We spent the beginning and the end of our trip in Old San Juan with the Island of Vieques in the middle.
Here are some snapshots of Old San Juan! I wish that I had Sarah and Adam's pictures but they took over 300 and are still working on deleting. I am normally a picture taker on vacation but I was not this time! I knew they had their camera and they were better with it near the water since they are used to being by the beach 24/7 :)
This is me with Sarah don't mind us, we (me and Jeremy) had been up so 5am traveling!
The bigger of the two forts in Old San Juan. We declared this Sarah day because we just followed her around where ever she wanted to go :)
We happened to see helicopters and wondered what was going on, looked over the edge of the fort to find a paddle board race. I have no idea how they managed to go so far, it looked very tiring. There were a LOT of racers but it was had to understand what was going in the non-zoomed out picture, you couldn't make out the racers.
These guys could be found every where! We saw a HUGE one when we where closing up the house to check out. I was just enjoying the view along the wall of the fort when this little guy climbed up beside and stopped right in front of me. I didn't want to yell out to Jeremy, Sarah and Adam so they didn't get to practically shake hands with him like I did!
The architecture in Old San Juan reminded me a lot of New Orleans.

Vieques, PR Part 1
If you want to feel as thought you are on your own private beach and do not mind having to drive 4x4 to get there, then Vieques is the place to go!
View from our balcony!
Black sand beach, we had to do a little hiking to get to this one. There may have been an area of water that we had to walk through that seemed like it could been invested with scary things. But none of us have of a raging infection!
Playing on the rocks, some of them did not feel so good on the bottom of the feet!
At first I was a little disappointed in the black sand (not much black sand) but then we found sea glass now I just have to figure out what I am going to do with it! Also the rocks were fun to climb on!
Green Beach, the coral started right off the beach--watch out for sea urchins!
Watching the storm come in.
